1-year Remote Residency Program
Our Society offers a one-year remote residency program. The program's goal is to train and teach residents to be ready to serve in the needed field of small, mountain, or rural towns. The program requires a commitment of around 10 hours a week and is divided into three fields. The first field involves practical integrated church life. The resident will need to be plugged into an orthodox denominational church and will be expected to experience mentorship by the clergy, experience active and integrated church life, and experience fellowship within the church. The second field is academic training in the Wesleyan way. This will be overseen by a Society leader. A list of practical and theological books will be read and discussed. Education will take place over a teleconference platform and will also involve opportunities to attend in-person gatherings. The third field is a practical church planting practicum. The practicum should be hands-on and focused on church planting and domestic missiology. This involves activities such as creating a budget, forming a board, evangelism training, and community building in a small town context. This can and should be done within the pipeline of an orthodox denomination or diocese.
